Computer Council wins Open Group India Awards for Innovation

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has won 'The Open Group India Awards for Innovation & Excellence 2022' for developing National e-Service Bus.
Tarique M. Barkatullah, a Director of BCC, received the award on behalf of his organisation at a virtual ceremony on Wednesday.
The fourth edition of the India Awards was attended by finalists, winners, jury and industry peers from all over the world. Confirming the matter, Tarique M. Barkatullah told the FE that it was a matter of huge pride that Bangladesh got the international award.
The BCC received the award for its innovation and excellence in the use of open standards and open source, he added.
The BCC, which is a statutory body under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, is contributing a lot to encouraging and providing support for ICT-related activities, formulating national ICT strategy and policy, creating standards and specifications of ICT tools for government organisations according to their necessity, and working for human resource development in ICT sector.
Steve Nunn, president and CEO, The Open Group, said the BCC won this award for developing service bus for e-Service delivery. With various awareness workshops, twenty-five services have been integrated with the service bus, he pointed out.
"The solution defined is based on the TOGAF standard adopting open source application and saving cost. With the development of service delivery bus, BCC has set an example which can be repeated for more such buses to cater to multiple services," he said.
