Muzaffar Ahmed, President and CEO of Credit Rating Information and Services Limited (CRISL) has been elected as one of the members of 7-member Board of Directors of the Association of Credit Rating Agencies in Asia (ACRAA) in its annual general meeting held in Manila recently.
He is also the incumbent president of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB).
Mr Ahmed was nominated as Chairman of the Training Committee which organises ACRAA training programmes in the Asian countries in the areas of credit rating and related fields. He has also been nominated as the Vice Chairman of Fin- Tech and Research Committee of ACRAA, said a statement.
Founded in 2001 under the sponsorship of Asian Development Bank by 15 Asian credit rating agencies of 10 countries, ACRAA's primary objectivesare to promote regional cooperation and harmony in the areas of credit rating, analysis, research and information sharing services amongst the member agencies.
For the purpose, it arranges international seminars and symposiums on topics relating to risk management, risk mitigation and financial reportingservices.
Apart from these, it arranges on regular basis training programmes for credit analysts of member agencies on different issues particularly relating to creditanalysis and riskgrading methodologies.
ACRAA has now 28 member agencies from 13 countries in Asia. Other than CRISL, three other rating agencies of Bangladesh are members of ACRAA. Members of ACRAA are bound by its ethical code of conduct which was published by the Asian Development bank for the member countries.
