Discussion on 'Stewardship towards sustainable agriculture'

Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) jointly hosted a focus group discussion on 'Stewardship towards Sustainable Agriculture' at the BUILD Conference Room in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The programme aimed to engage stakeholders in a meaningful dialogue on the significance of stewardship in achieving sustainable agriculture and to assess the status of stewardship in the agricultural sector of Bangladesh, says a press release.

Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin, Chief Executive Officer of BFTI, was present as the chief guest.

Professor Abu Noman Faruq Ahmmed, from the Department of Plant Pathology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, presented the keynote paper, highlighting the critical significance of stewardship for sustainable agriculture. He emphasized that it is high time to adopt and practice stewardship.

Md. Obaidul Azam, Director, BFTI, was the Session Chair.

Representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce, The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Bayer Crop Science, Syngenta Bangladesh Limited, Corteva Agri Science, Bangladesh Crop Protection Association (BCPA), and International Potato Centre ttok part in the open discussion.
