DSE AGM approves 4pc dividend

The Dhaka Stock Exchange held its 62nd annual general meeting (AGM) at the DSE Tower in Dhaka on Thursday, with its Chairman Prof Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu in the chair.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) at its 62nd annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday approved a 4 per cent cash dividend for its shareholders for the year ended June 30, 2023.

The shareholders also adopted the audited financial statements of the DSE for FY '23 and appointed auditors for the next financial year at the AGM held at the DSE Tower at Nikunja in Dhaka, says a press release.

A newly elected director -- Richard D' Rozario, immediate past president of Dhaka Brokers Association of Bangladesh, was included in the board.

DSE Chairman Prof Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu presided over the AGM while DSE Company Secretary Mohammad Asadur Rahman conducted it.

Prof Hafiz said the DSE is working for a completely digital trading platform in the interest of the capital market as well as investors so that all the stakeholders can get benefits.

"We are giving utmost importance to technology in share transactions and remain engaged in discussions with various parties to establish a smart market," he said.

In order to ensure automatic and uninterrupted transactions, the DSE last month inaugurated a state-of-the-art data centre, aiming to enhance the efficiency of daily share transactions.

DSE Managing Director Dr ATM Tariquzzaman emphasized the need for ensuring institutional governance and efficient market management to develop the country's capital market.
