The Board of Directors of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has accepted the resignation letter of its Managing Director (MD) Tarique Amin Bhuiyan.

The board members accepted the resignation at a meeting held at the DSE office in the capital on Thursday.

"The issue of the MD's resignation was the only agenda of the meeting. The board has accepted his resignation as the Managing Director resigned voluntarily," said DSE chairman Md. Eunusur Rahman.

On Tuesday, DSE MD Tarique Amin Bhuiyan resigned from his position, citing some obstacles to his work.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Bhuiyan said he was not able to work on his own.

When asked, the DSE's shareholder-director Sharif Anwar Hossain said they are not aware of any obstacles facing the MD while carrying out his job.

According to insiders, the DSE MD recently promoted 127 officials, which might have annoyed the board members.

Sources associated with the DSE's MD, however, said such promotions were given in line with stipulated rules and regulations.

In July 2021, Tarique Amin Bhuiyan joined the DSE as the managing director for three years.

Mr Bhuiyan started off his career as a graduate trainee in ANZ Grindlays Bank.

Later, Tarique Amin Bhuiyan served in several important positions for over 25 years in various organisations, including ING, St. George and Westpac and global consulting companies like TCS, Accenture and Infosys etc.
