DSE Brokers Assoc begins journey

DSE Brokers Association Wednesday formally started its journey for fostering cooperation among businesses and the regulatory authorities for the sake of brokers and investors.
Announcing its formal inception and 15-member board of directors, the association arranged a press briefing on the premises of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Wednesday.
The DSE earlier was a mutual exchange and the brokers were able to raise their opinion through the board.
After completion of demutualisation process, DSE management was separated from the board and brokers' participation in the board was also squeezed as majority directors are independent.
Under such a situation, brokers' association Wednesday emerged like the associations of other demutualised stock exchanges.
At the press briefing, the association leaders said the objective of forming new platform is to conduct negotiations with the government, the securities regulator, central bank, revenue board and other regulatory authorities for the interest of brokers and the premier bourse.
"Our association would work to create awareness among investors along with promoting and protecting the trade, commerce, businesses and industrial relations," Ahsanul Islam, the president of the newly formed board of DSE Brokers Association, told the press briefing.
Islam, also a former DSE president, said their association would promote cooperation amongst in businesses so that they work together for the development of economic and industrial ties.
He said the association would also undertake research, studies on the issues concerning derivatives and any other products relating to the stock market.
The other directors of DSE Brokers Association are: Kazi Firoz Rashid, Abdul Haque, Md. Mizanur Rahman Khan, Md. Hanif Bhuiya, Minhaz Mannan Emon, Shahed Abdul Khaleque, Ms. Khugesta Nur-E-Naharin, Sharif Ataur Rahman, Mostaque Ahmed Sadeque, M. Moazzam Hossain, A.S. Shahudul Huque Bulbul, Mahbubur Rahman, Khwaja Asif Ahmed and Md. Zahirul Islam.
