The final round of the 2023 BIAC International Inter-University Arbitration Contest, held online on Sunday, saw Dhaka University emerge victorious against Kathmandu University School of Law, Nepal. The contest, supported by BRAC Bank, Mutual Trust Bank and IFIC Bank, featured eight universities from Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Justice AFM Abdur Rahman chaired the tribunal, joined by members Supreme Court Advocate Saqeb Mahbub and Nicky Balani of Arbitration and Mediation, Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC). Representatives from the sponsor banks -- BRAC Bank's Head of Legal, Rasheed Ahmed; Mutual Trust Bank's Head of Legal, Shafayat Ullah; and IFIC Bank's Head of Legal, Rafat Ahmed Pavel -- attended the event alongside BIAC Vice-Chairman Muhammad A (Rumee) Ali. Priyanka Roy, senior counsel, and Adv Moyee Mina Haque, assistant counsel, of BIAC hosted the proceedings.
