Eastern Cables very potential: Industries minister

CHATTOGRAM, July 06: Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun visited the Eastern Cables Limited at Patenga in the port city on Saturday.

Later, he held a meeting with officials and staff of the Eastern Cables Limited.

Among others, Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation Chairman Mijanur Rahman, Managing Director of Eastern Cables Limited Ushamony Chakma, Director Md Mofijur Rahman and other top officials were present.

Addressing the meeting, the Industries Minister said, "The Eastern Cables Limited was established in 1967 and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman nationalised the company after the Liberation War. So, we never close the company as it is an asset of the country. We never privatise the Eastern Cables as it is very potential one."

He expressed his satisfaction over the production capacity of the company and pledged to solve the prevailing crisis of the company.

Earlier, Managing Director of Eastern Cables Limited Ushamony Chakma highlighted the problems of the company while speaking in the meeting.
