Expedite farm loan disbursement

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has asked all commercial banks to expedite disbursement of farm credits under concessional rate at 4.0 per cent for facilitating cultivation of import-substitute crops, taking prime cropping areas into consideration.
The crops include pulses, oilseeds, spices and maize.
The central banks in a circular issued the directive on Sunday.
The main objective of the BB circular is to help the country "save foreign currency through reducing import of such agri-produce."
