Fazlul Kader appointed PKSF MD

Md Fazlul Kader has been appointed as the managing director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The PKSF governing body appointed him as the 12th managing director on Tuesday for a three-year term.

Kader started his career at PKSF on October 1, 1990 as a management executive. He was promoted to the post of additional managing director on August 8, 2021. He has been serving as the acting managing director since August 22, 2024, a statement said.

According to it, in his 34-year career, he played a leading role in strengthening Bangladesh's microfinance sector by enhancing the institutional capacity of PKSF and helping establish over 200 microfinance institutions across the country.

Kader played a key role in formulating the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) Act 2006 and was the chairman of the three-member committee formed to formulate the MRA Regulations 2010.

He has worked in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Morocco as a consultant for various international entities, including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme.

Kader passed the SSC examination from the then Momenshahi Cadet College in 1979 and the HSC from Mirzapur Cadet College in 1981. He completed his bachelor's in economics from the University of Dhaka in 1984 and earned an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in 1988.

Later, he received professional training in various institutions, including the Harvard Institute for International Development in the US, the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, and Temenos India Private Limited.
