Zahidul Islam has been appointed as the Managing Director for Bayer in Bangladesh, with effect from July 1, 2020.
Zahidul Islam is the first-ever Bangladeshi national to assume the role of Managing Director for Bayer's operations in the country.
Bayer CropScience Limited, Bangladesh is a joint venture of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and Bayer AG, a leading life science company headquartered in Germany, with a history of more than 150 years and competencies in agriculture and health care.
Zahidul Islam joined Bayer in 2004.
His fifteen-year experience includes roles in business management, sales, strategic marketing, branding, operational marketing and commercial excellence, both in Bangladesh and in Bayer's South Asia headquarters in Mumbai, India.
Prior to this, he was the Commercial Operations Lead and Executive Director for Bayer CropScience Limited, Bangladesh.
He holds a B.Sc. and MS in Agriculture from the Bangladesh Agricultural University and an Executive MBA in Marketing, from the American International University, Dhaka.
Zahidul Islam succeeds Srinivasa Karavadi, who held the role of Managing Director until June 30, 2020. During his six-year tenure as MD, Karavadi introduced many new solutions for Bangladeshi farmers and helped strengthen Bayer's contribution to agriculture in Bangladesh.
Karavadi will repatriate to India to take up the role of Head of Market Development for Bayer's Crop Science business in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
