First Facebook Instant Game by a corporate entity launched

A corporate entity has launched a Facebook Instant Game, first of its kind in the country to educate the masses about Bangladesh's history in a digital manner.

The campaign titled 'Bangladesh Unlocked' encapsulates BanglaCAT's dreams for Bangladesh using the tagline "Know your country. Know yourself."

In an age of increasing digitization and connectivity, social media apps have become for many people their primary source through which they garner and disseminate information, and Facebook is on top in this regard, with more than 2.5 billion users. And, as of January 2019, Bangladesh had more than 33 million Facebook users, accounting for almost 20 per cent of its population, a number that has no doubt increased exponentially since then.

"The campaign presents a unique opportunity for the commoners across the world to learn quickly about their own country and its incredible history. It is an opportunity through which our nation and its diverse landscape can be represented on a global scale. And, most importantly, it is an opportunity through which knowledge can be used to inspire a whole new generation of leaders who will drive Bangladesh forward towards a more prosperous future," said Md. Habibul Alam, a freelance journalist.

"Our nation's history is rich with spectacular events, diverse cultures, grand architecture and incredible works of art. Bangladesh may only be 49 years old, but there is much to be proud of in these short yet intense few decades, decades in which we have used our extraordinary resilience to become a nation with one of the fastest growing economies in Asia," Mr Alam cited.

"However, and most unfortunately, we find ourselves ignorant of how we as a nation came into being.Is it not a tragedy that so many of us, regardless of our age, are unaware of the great achievements we have made as a country? Is it not heartbreaking that so many people sacrificed their lives in order for this nation to be born only for their names to be forgotten?"

It is on the shoulder of our youth that this nation we will move forward and head towards a more prosperous future. It is up to our young men and women to ensure that they continue to build on our past successes and contribute towards an economy that is robust, versatile and contributes to the wellbeing of the teeming millions.

Launched by BanglaCAT, Bangladesh Unlocked is a trivia-based Facebook Instant game which aims to enrich the population of Bangladesh with knowledge about our country.
