Fortune Shoes leads both turnover, gainers' charts

Fortune Shoes dominated both the turnover and gainers' charts of the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Tuesday while ten most traded companies grabbed more than 32 per cent of total transactions.
Market analysts said investors showed their buying appetite for Fortune Shoes shares as it posted 41.25 per cent earnings growth for July-December period of 2018.
The earnings per share (EPS) rose to Tk 1.13 for July-December 2018 as against Tk 0.80 for July-December 2017.
According to statistics from the DSE, about 21.08 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 766 million, which was 8.50 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 9.01 billion on Sunday, which was Tk 7.19 billion in the previous session.
The shoe maker's share price closed at Tk 37.70 on Tuesday, soaring 9.91 per cent over the previous day. It was also the day's highest gainer.
Its share price jumped 25 per cent in the past five trading sessions. On February 06, the company's share price was Tk 30.10 each.
Following the upward trend of its share price and volume, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (DSE) served show-cause notice on the company.
The company informed on Tuesday that there was no undisclosed price sensitive information for the recent unusual price hike of its shares.
The Fortune Shoes, which was listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividends for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.24 billion, authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion and the total number of securities is 124.93 million.
The sponsor-directors own 30.56 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 20.63 per cent and the general public 48.81 per cent as of January 31, 2109.
The United Power came in second, with shares worth Tk 499 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 406.50 each, losing 0.34 per cent over the previous session.
Bangladesh Submarine Cable clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 282 million changing hands. The company's share advanced 2.38 per cent to close at Tk 150.60 each.
Monno Ceramic emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 270 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 346.60, advancing Tk 3.12 each.
Grameenphone notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 182 million changing hands. The company's share price plunged 2.26 per cent to close at Tk 388.60.
The turnover of Monno Stafflers was Tk 181 million. The company's share price advanced 4.17 per cent to close at Tk 2,179.70 each.
Nurani Dyeing featured a turnover of Tk 166 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 18.90, gaining 4.41 per cent.
The turnover of Paramount Textile was Tk 140 million. The company's share closed at Tk 72, rising 1.69 per cent.
SK Trims Industries featured a turnover of Tk 134 million. The company's share price rose 4.08 per cent to close at Tk 48.50 each.
Genex Infosys also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 133 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 51.80, shedding 2.81 per cent over the previous day.
