Fortune Shoes leads DSE turnover chart

Ten most-traded cos snare 38pc turnover

Top ten-traded firms captured more than 38 per cent transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Tuesday while Fortune Shoes dominated the chart.

Market analysts said investors were active on Fortune shares amid positive expectations in its quarterly earnings ahead.

The company Tuesday informed that a meeting of the board of directors will be held on April 28 to consider, among others, un-audited financial statements of the company for the third quarter (Q3) period ended on March 31, 2019.

According to statistics from the DSE, with 9.0 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Tuesday, generating a turnover worth Tk 345 million, which was 11.55 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 2.98 billion on Tuesday which was Tk 3.51 billion in the previous day.

The company's share price closed at Tk 37.30 on Tuesday, losing 1.32 per cent over the previous day.

In the last one month, its share price, however, rose 19 per cent despite the bearish market trend.

The company's share traded between Tk 27.70 and Tk 40.40 in the last one year.

The Fortune Shoes, which was listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.25 billion, authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion and the total number of securities is 124.93 million.

The sponsor-directors own 30.93 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 10.34 per cent and the general public 58.73 per cent as of March 31, 2019.

Monno Ceramic followed next, with shares worth Tk 144 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 249, losing 8.72 per cent. It was also the day's highest loser.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 138 million changing hands. The company's share price plunged 5.32 per cent to close at Tk 161.90.

United Power emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 111 million changing hands. The power generation company's share closed at Tk 322.55 each, losing 3.76 per cent.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 85 million changing hands. The state-run company's share price fell 0.41 per cent to close at Tk 47.90 each.
