GBC to bring out best business leaders

The Bangladesh finale of GBC 2014 will be held at Lakeshore Hotel on 6th June 2014 and four contending teams will be adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges.

The winning team of Bangladesh finale will be participating in the Global Finale to be held in August this year in Mumbai, India where 24 teams from different countries are expected to participate, said a statement of CIMA.

Global Business Challenge (GBC) is an international competition designed by CIMA to bring out the best in potential business leaders among young undergraduates from all across the world. This competition takes place in 24 different countries and is being attended by undergraduates from prestigious universities. The competition is being organized in partnership with Barclays, a British multinational banking and finance services company. The competition has evolved from 8 participating regions around the world in 2009 to 24 regions for the 2014 competition, demonstrating the success and global reach of the business challenge.

CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, is the only international accountancy body with a sole focus on business. It is a world leading professional institute that offers an internationally recognized qualification in management accountancy, focusing on accounting in business in the both the private and public sectors. It is the voice of 218,000 students and members in 177 countries.

"CIMA is committed to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards of members and students, and to maintaining public confidence in management accountancy," the statement said.

The CIMA GBC competition runs in three stages. Teams of four act as consultants and compete among teams within their country at the early stages. At the country level, the winning team is selected through a contest, where different teams are required to submit a report based on a business case. Once the report is selected the teams have to present on the case and the best team proceeds to the global finale representing their country or region in the battle for the global champion title.

The competition not only grooms future business leaders but also gives an opportunity to the participants to meet their peers around the world. In 2013, the final competition was held in South Africa and "Team InnoVision" from LCBS, Dhaka competed on the global stage.
