Gold prices edge down--

Jewellers on Wednesday reduced the gold price on the local market in alignment with the global market.

The highest standard or 22-carat per 10 gram gold will be sold at Tk67,200 which was Tk 68,200 previously.

The new price will be effective from today (Thursday), the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BJA) said in a statement on Wednesday evening.

The BJA standing committee on pricing and price monitoring made the decision following a meeting, the statement said adding gold price has decreased on the international market.

The jewellers' trade body had previously revised the gold price on May 26.

As per the new decision, per bhori or 11.664 gram 22-carat gold will be valued at Tk78,382 which was earlier Tk79,548.

After the new pricing, per 10 gram 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk64,200 instead of Tk65,100.

Per 10 gram 18-carat gold's new price was fixed at Tk55,000, down from Tk55,800 previously.

Traditional gold's per 10-gram will be sold at Tk45,850, which was Tk46,500.

On the other hand, per 10 gram 22-carat and 21-carat silver's price remained unchanged at Tk1,300.

The BJA requested all the Bangladeshi jewellers to follow the new pricing until a new decision comes.
