The government has approved separate proposals for procuring some 30,000 tonnes (MTs) of rock phosphate and 70,000 MTs of MOP fertiliser to meet the growing demands of the country, reports BSS.
The approvals came from the 22nd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP), held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal of the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 30,000 MTs of rock phosphate for TSPCL from M/s Zentrade FZE, UAE (Manufacturer: OCP S.A., Morocco) with around Tk 89.50 crore, with per MT rock phosphate costing US$232.90.
In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 MTs of MOP fertiliser under a state-level agreement from Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) of Canada with around Tk 1.67 billion where per MT fertiliser would cost $339.63. Following another proposal, BADC would procure 30,000 MTs of MOP fertiliser under a state-level agreement from JSC "Foreign Economic Corporation (Prodintorg)" of Russia with around Tk 1.24 billion.
