The press conference was attended, among others, by advisor of Green Delta Insurance Company Nasir A Choudhury, its consultant ASA Muiz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Green Delta Securities and Head of Retail and SME Wafi SM Khan and media adviser Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari.

Nibedita is a comprehensive insurance scheme catering to the needs of urban and rural women of our country, they said.

Ms Farzana Chowdhury said, "Green Delta Insurance Company has created a platform for growth, corporate governance, youth leadership and specially women empowerment. Some 52 per cent of our population is women today and when it comes to human rights, women are always the ones that get neglected and their rights are frequently violated. Nibedita has been launched keeping the needs of the females of our nation in mind."

Last year, Nibedita was launched on pilot basis and now it hit the market officially.

The officials said that all sections of women in the age group 18-65 are eligible to buy this policy. It can be availed individually or group wise.

The net premium is from Tk 580 to Tk 5080 per person against the sum insured worth Tk 100,000 to Tk 1,000,000, they said.

They further said that the product was designed for the women as they now-a-days are exposed various hazards related to the occupations and social issues; an insurance like this might give women to think independently in terms of financial protection or revive the business if they encounters any accident.

Ms Farzana Chowdhury said the product is a unique product because of its special features for the women.

"We have launched the product not for the profitability rather to support the women," she said, and thanked the insurance regulator for giving approval to the product.

Mr Nasir A Choudhury said the product was actually developed under the initiative of Ms Farzana following her earlier experience at the SME banking at a private bank.

In a query, he further said that the claim must be settled immediately against any type of security in continuation of the company's ongoing reputation in this connection.
