HC stays procurement process of Water Dev Board by two months

The High Court Division comprising Justice Qazi Reza-Ul Haque and Justice A.B.M. Altaf Hossain in a judgment on March 10, 2014, stayed the procurement process for manufacturing and supply of 650 mm discharge pipe diameter cutter suction dredgers including accessories (3 sets) for the next two months following a writ petition filed by Ellicott Dredgers, LLC and Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd.
 Upon hearing the petitioners, the judges issued Rule upon the government to show cause as to why the judgment on December 26, 2013 passed by the CPTU (central procurement technical unit) review panel allowing the appeal of Vosta LMG - Kamafully Joint Venture Consortium Ltd. by directing Project Director, Procurement of Dredgers for river dredging of Bangladesh and Chief Engineer, Dredger Poridoptor, Bangladesh Water Development Board to evaluate the dropped tenders within seven days upon receipt of copy of the  judgment  Of CPTU review panel and to send the evaluation report with the recommendation of Director General, Bangladesh Water Development Board following  three days for onward obtaining approval of the cabinet committee for public purchase should not be declared to have been made without any lawful authority and is of no legal effect, said a press release.
