Presided over by Md Abdul Hamid Miah, Managing Director and CEO, the conference was addressed by Md Shahabuddin, Vice-Chairman, Major General (Retd.) Abdul Matin, Chairman, Executive Committee, Dr Md Zillur Rahman, Chairman, Audit Committee, Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman, Risk Management Committee, Prof Dr Qazi Shahidul Alam, Mohammed Humayun Kabir, FCA, Md Syful Islam, FCA, FCMA, Md Joynal Abedin, Md Mizanur Rahman, Prof Dr. Md. Sirajul Karim, Prof Md Nazmul Hassan, Syed Abu Asad and Md Mosaddake-Ul-Alam, Directors of the bank, as special guests.
Prof Dr Mohammad Abdus Samad, Member-Secretary of the Shariah Supervisory Committee, and Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Additional Managing Director, also spoke.
Deputy Managing Directors, Head Office executives, heads of Zones and branch managers of the bank attended the conference.
The conference disclosed that IBBL has reached a deposit milestone of Tk 751 billion as on December 31, 2017 by adding more than Tk 72 billion in its deposit portfolio.
The bank has achieved general investment base of Tk 701 billion by increasing Tk 84 billion over the previous year. IBBL has consolidated its leadership in handling import, export and remittance business of Tk 385 billion, Tk 240 billion and Tk 233 billion respectively in 2017.
In his speech, Chairman Arastoo Khan said Shariah is the key factor of Islami Bank.
He said Islami Bank has become the best bank in the country due to its proper compliance with Shariah principles, time-demanding and appropriate guidelines from the board of directors, management techniques from the managing authorities, and professional skills, honesty and sincere service of the employees.
He also said Bangladesh is on the highway of development and become a universal model of development. Islami Bank has been playing a partnering role with the government in development.
Md Abdul Hamid Miah, Managing Director and CEO, said Islami Bank is working for the welfare of the deprived, backward and underprivileged people through extensive financial inclusion, need-based investment, social responsibility and rural development scheme.
