IBBL urged to finance Dhaka city development

Mayor of DNCC Annisul Huq inaugurating the 301st branch of IBBL as the chief guest on Sonargaon Janapath Road at Uttara in the city on Monday. Among others, Managing Director of the bank Mohammad Abdul Mannan was present on the occasion.

The management of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) has been requested to come forward to finance in beautification and development of mass transportation in Dhaka city.

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq made the appeal while inaugurating the 301st branch of the bank as the chief guest on Sonargaon Janapath Road at Uttata in the city on Monday, said a press release.

The city mayor also called upon all to contribute to the economic progress of the country by taking services of the IBBL.  

Mr Huq lauded the role of IBBL saying that Islami Bank has become the leading bank of the country by conducting its 32 years banking services with transparency, accountability and professionalism.

Through diversified investment in financial activities, the bank has been contributing in the development of the country, he added.

In his presidential address, Managing Director of the bank Mohammad Abdul Mannan said Islami Bank has been playing role in economic development of the country through expansion of trade and commerce, industrialisation, agriculture, entrepreneurship development, employment generation and infrastructure development in the light of its need based production and diversification investment policy.

The bank has connected about 1.0 million (10 lakh) marginal people of 20,000 villages with the mainstream economy of the country through Islamic microfinance under its Rural Development Scheme, he told the function.
