ICB Islamic Bank posts positive EPS

ICB Islamic Bank has posted a profit for the second quarter ended June 30 after incurring losses for a long period.

The company logged an EPS (earnings per share) of Tk 0.15 for April-June 2022 as against the loss of Tk 0.17 per share for the same period of last year, according to a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

For the period of January-June 2022, the company reported an EPS of Tk 0.02 as against the loss of Tk 0.32 for the same period in 2021.

During the years from 2018 to 2021, ICB Islamic Bank saw losses ranging between Tk 0.28 and Tk 0.73 per share.

Contacted, an official of the bank's share department declined to make any comment regarding the company's return to profit, saying that the officials of the accounts department can give the details on it.

ICB Islamic Bank has reported a negative NAV of Tk 18.12 as on June 30, 2022 as against negative NAV of Tk 17.86 as on June 30, 2021.

ICB Islamic Bank, presently a 'Z' category company, was listed with the stock exchange in 1990.

According to the DSE data, the company did not issue any dividend for a long time.

The company's sponsor-directors hold 52.76 per cent stakes, the government 0.17 per cent, institutes 22.39 per cent and the general shareholders 24.68 per cent as on July 31, 2022, according to the DSE.

The company's share price closed at Tk 5.40 each on Thursday on the DSE.
