ICSB Council meets Commerce Minister

The Council Members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) led by its President, Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS called on Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, MP Wednesday.

The ICSB president introduced the Council Members to the Minister and apprised him of the various activities that ICSB undertook for professional development of its Members as well as its future plans, said a statement.

The ICSB president thanked the Minster for initiative of his Ministry to pass the Chartered Secretaries Act-2010 which gave a legal footing to the Institute and said that now the Institute is running as statutory body under Ministry of Commerce as the recognized professional body specializing in the areas of Corporate Governance and Corporate Management.

The ICSB president also briefed the Minister about the introduction of Corporate Governance Award-2013 by ICSB during its 5th National Convention Programme in December, 2014 and invited him to be the chief guest on the Convention Day.

The Commerce Minister gave a patient hearing and gave consent to be the Chief Guest at the National Convention Program. He appreciated the role of ICSB in promoting professionalism and development of the Company Secretaries profession in the country.  He also appreciated that the ICSB has been providing international standard professional education in the country and appreciated the steps taken by the Institute for corporate governance and professionalism in corporate culture in line with UK, India and other developed countries of the world so that its Members can compete with other profession and get employment home and abroad. He assured that the Ministry of Commerce will do everything possible for further development of the profession in the country.

The Council Members thanked the Minister for giving his valuable time and hoped that his continued support and guidance will help the Institute to move forward to achieve its objectives.

M. Naseemul Hye FCS, Senior Vice President of the Institute, N. G. Chakraborty FCS, Council Member, Md. Shahid Farooqui FCS, Council Member, Md. Selim Reza FCS, Council Member, Mohammad Nurul Alam FCS, Council Member, A.T.M Tahmiduzzaman ACS, Council Member and Secretary of the Institute Mustafa Mohiuddin were present during the meeting.
