ICSB delegates meet Muhith

A delegation of Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) led by its president Mohammad Asad Ullah met with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith at ERD office in the city Tuesday

A delegation of Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) met with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith Tuesday at ERD office in the city.

Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, president of ICSB along with some of his Council Members were present on the occasion, said a statement.

The President introduced his Council Members to the Finance Minister and highlighted on different initiatives undertaken by ICSB since its inception. He expressed his sincerest thanks and gratitude to the Government of Sheikh Hasina for passing the Chartered Secretaries Act -2010 that gave ICSB a legal footing as the recognised professional body under Ministry of Commerce for the development and enhancement of corporate governance in the corporate sector of the country.

The ICSB president also briefed the Finance Minister about the introduction of Corporate Governance Award-2013 by ICSB to be awarded in a befitting function to be held on December 04, 2014 and invited him to be the Chief Guest on this occasion, to which the Finance Minister accorded his kind consent.

The ICSB president also highlighted on the Professional Course (Chartered Secretaries Course) offered by the Institute in line with UK, India, Canada, America, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and other developed countries of the world in order to equip the professionals with adequate skills for getting employment both home and abroad.

Appreciating the role of ICSB in promoting professionalism and development of the Company Secretaries Profession in the country, the Honorable Finance Minister assured that the Ministry of Finance will provide all out assistance for further development of the profession in the country which has been contributing for the economic development of the nation. He also stressed that in order to inject professionalism and corporate governance in our capital market the role of Company Secretaries is of prime importance. He further reiterated Government's proactive role in facilitating development of the Institute like ICSB in the national interest.  

The Council Members thanked the Hon'ble Minister for giving his valuable time and hoped that his continued support and guidance will help the Institute to move forward to achieve its objectives.

Senior Vice President of the Institute M. Naseemul Hye FCS, Council Member Itrat Hossain FCS, Md. Azizur Rahman FCS, M. Nurul Alam FCS, A. T. M. Tahmiduzzaman ACS and Secretary of the Institute Mustafa Mohiuddin were present during the meeting.
