Council Members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) led by its Senior Vice President M Nurul Alam called on Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, Chairman, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at his office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka on Tuesday.
On behalf of the delegation, the Senior Vice President of ICSB congratulated him on assuming the office of the Chairman of BSEC.
He introduced the Council Members of ICSB to the Chairman and apprised him of the activities that ICSB undertook for professional development of its members as well as its future plans.
Speaking on the occasion, M Nurul Alam asked for representation of ICSB members in the Securities Exchange Commission's Advisory Committee and in the Boards of Dhaka and Chittagong bourses. He also proposed that for listed companies, a Company Secretary should only be a fully Qualified Chartered Secretary from ICSB. He pushed for including the BSS-5 and BSS-6 of ICSB on 'Virtual and Hybrid Meeting' and 'Resolution by Circulation' in the Corporate Governance Code. He also called for introducing the Secretarial Audit in the listed companies of Bangladesh.
