IFAD Autos leads DSE turnover chart

Month-long correction of the company allures investors

Ten top-traded companies captured more than 26 per cent of transactions on the country's major bourse on Wednesday. IFAD Autos topped the list.

Brokers said the investors were active on IFAD Autos shares throughout the trading session as the company's share price came down to a lucrative price level after a month-long correction.

The IFAD Autos' share price fell 18.40 per cent in the last one month to came down to Tk 111.40 on Monday. The company's share price was Tk 131.90 on January 29.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 1.32 million shares of IFAD Autos were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 157 million, which was 4.04 per cent of the Dhaka bourse's total transactions.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.90 billion, which was 21 per cent lower than the previous day's turnover of Tk 3.22 billion.

The IFAD Autos share price traded between Tk 111.30 and Tk 124, before closing at Tk 117.50, advancing 3.62 per cent from that of the previous session.

The company's share price hovered between Tk 109.60 and Tk 165.70 in the last one year.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) in the October-December quarter (Q2) 2017 stood at Tk 2.37 as against Tk 1.95 for the same period a year ago.

In six months for July-December, 2017, the company's EPS was Tk 4.67 which was Tk 2.89 for the July-December period of 2016.

The company disbursed 21 per cent cash dividend for shareholders (other than sponsors/directors) and 5.0 per cent stock dividend for all shareholders for the year ended on June 30, 2017.

Apart from IFAD Autos, the most other active shares in terms of value included LankaBangla Finance, Lafarge Surma Cement, Square Pharmaceuticals, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, BBS Cables, Brac Bank, Monno Ceramic Industries, Nahee Aluminum and Keya Cosmetics.

LankaBangla followed next with shares worth more than Tk 119 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 34.90, losing 2.24 per cent over the previous session.

Lafarge Surma was the third with shares worth Tk 118 million changing hands. The multinational cement maker's share price soared 5.78 per cent to close at Tk 60.30.

Square Pharmaceuticals clinched the fourth spot, with shares worth Tk 114 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 0.44 per cent to close at Tk 313.30.

Al-Arafah Bank emerged fifth with shares worth Tk 99 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 24.20, remaining unchanged over the previous day.

BBS Cables saw its shares worth Tk 87 million change hands. The company's share price advanced 5.79 per cent to close at Tk 89.40.

The turnover of Brac Bank was Tk 82 million. Each share of the bank's closed at Tk 91.60, losing 0.22 per cent.

Monno Ceramic featured a turnover of Tk 77 million. The company's share price rose 5.24 per cent to close at Tk 136.40.

The turnover of Nahee Aluminum was Tk 76 million. The company's share price gained 1.31 per cent to close at Tk 49.60.

Keya Cosmetics grabbed the position in the top turnover chart with shares worth Tk 75 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.96 per cent to close at 10.
