LafargeHolcim tops turnover for fourth week

Top ten snare 24pc transactions on DSE

Ten most traded firms accounted for 24 per cent transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange last week with LafargeHolcim continuing to dominate the chart for fourth straight weeks.

Market operators said investors remained active trading in shares of LafargeHolicm after the Supreme Court had approved amalgamation of its subsidiary Holcim Cement (Bangladesh) with its parent company LafargeHolcim recently.

According to data available with the DSE, about 26.69 million shares of LafargeHolcim were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 1.26 billion, which was 4.87 per cent of the week's total turnover of Tk 25.96 billion.

The multinational cement manufacturer's share price closed at Tk 48.50 on Thursday, up 4.08 per cent over the week before.

The company's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) in nine months for January-September, 2019 was Tk 1.01 as against Tk 0.42 for January-September, 2018.

The LafargeHolcim, which was listed on the DSE in 2003, disbursed 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 11.61 billion and authorised capital is Tk 14 billion while the total number of securities is 1.16 billion.

The sponsor-directors own 64.68 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 15.83 per cent, foreign investors 1.0 per cent and the general public 18.49 per cent as of Januray 31, 2020, the DSE data showed.

Khulna Power came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 627 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 6.91 per cent to close at Tk 55.70 on Thursday.

Indo-Bangla Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 612 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 24.90, soaring 9.21 per cent.

ADN Telecom emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 610 million changing hands durig the week. The company's share price fell 1.92 per cent to Tk 45.90.

Orion Infusion notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 581 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 69, jumping 28.97 per cent.

The turnover of Shepherd Industries was Tk 575 million. The company's share price rose 2.88 cent to close at Tk 25 each.

SK Trims & Industries featured a turnover of Tk 536 million. The company's share closed at Tk 62.40, rising 26.32 per cent.

The turnover of SS Steel was Tk 499 million. Its share price rose 3.91 per cent to close at Tk 13.30 each.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation featured a turnover of more than Tk 443 million. The company's share closed at Tk49.10, gaining 1.66 per cent.

Golden Harvest Agro Industries also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 372 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 6.70 per cent to close at Tk 19.10 each.
