Large-cap issues dominate daily turnover

Some large-cap companies in recent days mostly contribute in the daily transaction of the stock market grabbing the top ten turnover leaders' position.

According to information of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), out of 328 listed companies, some 20 securities contribute up to 33 per cent of daily turnover witnessed by the premier bourse.

The companies which normally secure position in the chart of turnover leaders are: Lafarge Surma Cement, BSRM Limited, BSRM Steel, SINGER BD, Summit Power, ACME Laboratories, MJL Bangladesh, Square Pharmaceuticals and Grameenphone.

According to DSE information, the top 10 turnover leaders captured 24.90 per cent of the total market turnover worth Tk 5.26 billion on October 5 last.

On October 6, the premier bourse witnessed a turnover of above Tk 4.88 billion and 22.5 per cent of the value came from the turnovers featured by top 10 turnover leaders.

On October 10, the premier bourse witnessed a turnover of above Tk 4.48 billion. On the day, the turnover of some 17 companies, also the turnover leaders in the respective sectors, stood at above Tk 1.37 billion which was around 30.60 per cent of total market turnover.    

Among the companies, National Bank Limited witnessed a turnover of Tk 147.7 million which was 24.97 per cent of the sector's turnover on October 10. On October 9, the company featured a turnover of Tk 139.80 million and captured 18.14 per cent of the turnover witnessed by the banking sector.

On October 10, the Lafarge Surma Cement captured 56.36 per cent of its sector's turnover by posting a turnover of Tk 59.90 million. The company featured a turnover of Tk 64.30 million and captured 53.40 per cent of the turnover witnessed by cement sector in previous trading session.

Among the ceramic companies, the Fu-Wang Ceramic witnessed the highest turnover of Tk 15.60 million on Monday and Tk 19.60 million on Sunday. The company captured 36.87 per cent and 36.42 per cent of the turnover witnessed by the ceramic sector on Monday and Sunday respectively.

Standard Ceramic posted a turnover of Tk 15.60 million and captured 36.83 per cent of the turnover witnessed by ceramic companies on Monday. On Sunday the company featured a turnover of Tk 18.30 million which was 34 per cent of the sector's turnover.

The turnover of the BSRM Limited stood at Tk 84.70 million which was 13.56 per cent of the turnover posted by the engineering sector on Monday. The company witnessed a turnover of Tk 578.4 million and captured 36.61 per cent of the turnover witnessed by engineering sector on Sunday.

SINGER BD, another company of the engineering sector, had captured 28.06 per cent of sectoral turnover by featuring a turnover of Tk 175.2 million. The company's turnover was Tk 396.7 million which was 25.11 per cent of the sector's turnover featured on Sunday.

National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation featured a turnover of Tk 48.60 million and captured 16.16 per cent of the turnover posted by financial institution sector on Monday.

The turnover of the Olympic Industries stood at Tk 50.50 million which was 38.84 per cent of the turnover featured by food & allied sector on Monday.

On the same day, the Summit Power captured 41.64 per cent of the sector's turnover featuring a turnover of Tk 366.70 million.

Bangladesh National Insurance Company witnessed a turnover of Tk 31.60 million and captured 37.89 per cent of the turnover featured by the insurance sector on Monday.

Meghna Life Insurance Company witnessed a turnover of Tk 24.1 million and captured 39.80 of the turnover witnessed by the its sector on Monday.

On the day, the turnover of the BDCOM stood at Tk 35.10 million which was 30.96 per cent of the turnover featured by the IT sector.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation featured a turnover of Tk 113.10 million on Monday and captured 46.68 per cent of the turnover featured by the miscellaneous sector.

Among the pharmaceutical companies, ACME Laboratories featured a turnover of Tk 106.90 million and captured 22.18 per cent of the sector's turnover.

Among the companies of service sector, Summit Alliance Port posted highest turnover of Tk 18.5 million which was 39.54 per cent of turnover featured by service sector.

Grameenphone posted a turnover of Tk 37.20 million and captured 57 per cent of the sector's turnover, whereas The Peninsula Chittagong witnessed the highest  turnover worth Tk 38.90 million capturing 74.35 per cent of the sector's turnover.
