M. A. Jabbar, Managing Director of DBL Group, has become the President of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Investors' Association (BEZIA), says a statement.
Mr Jabbar, a computer science graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, USA, has been instrumental in developing a strong reputation and ongoing successes for DBL Group, a family business conglomerate established in 1991.
Over three decades, DBL has grown into a diversified conglomerate encompassing apparel, textiles, ceramic tiles, pharmaceuticals, sewing thread, dyed fiber and yarn, accessories, dredging, infrastructure, telecom, VLSI, IT, digital solutions, and retail industries.
Through a wide range of programmes aimed at improving the lives of workers and local communities while reducing environmental impact, Mr Jabbar regularly engages with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including UN agencies, Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), development organisations, and fashion retail brands.
Mr Jabbar is also an adviser to the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BCMEA), and convener of the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industries Association (BSIA).
He also serves on the Board of the Global Compact Network Bangladesh.
A trustee board member of the CSR Center Bangladesh, Mr Jabbar represents DBL in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh, and is a member of the Advisory Committee for British International Investment (BII), the development finance institution of the UK government.
