M-cap of top 7 Sensex cos down by over Rs 905b

NEW DELHI, June 1 (PTI): Top seven Sensex companies saw a cumulative loss of Rs 904.52 billion in their market capitalisation (m-cap) last week, with energy majors ONGC and RIL taking the steepest hit.

The seven companies whose market valuation eroded in the week ended last Friday include RIL, ONGC, ITC, CIL, SBI, Infosys and ICICI Bank.

On the other hand, TCS, HDFC Bank and new entrant in the top 10 list Larsen & Toubro made gains.

The m-cap of ONGC dropped Rs 250.25 billion to Rs 3236.11 billion, while RIL suffered a loss of Rs 202.66 billion to Rs 3442.84 billion.

CIL's market valuation plunged Rs 166.75 billion to Rs 2344.32 billion, while that of SBI tumbled Rs 159.28 billion to Rs 1897.71 billion.

The m-cap of Infosys tanked Rs 71.78 billion to Rs 1689.12 billion, while ICICI Bank shed Rs 48.63 billion to Rs 1639.27 billion.

ITC's market-cap fell by Rs 5.17 billion to Rs 2716.01 billion.

In contrast, TCS added Rs 32.91 billion to Rs 4199.90 billion in its valuation.

Similarly, L&T's value rose by Rs 35.34 billion to Rs 1436.46 billion and that of HDFC Bank jumped Rs 14.26 billion to Rs 1909.88 billion.
