M. A. Khan Belal has been elected as the chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Mecantile Bank in its 443rd board meeting held at the bank's head office recently, said a statement.
Prior to this election, he was the chairman of Mercantile Bank Securities Limited.
With a commendable experience in trade, industry, shipping and banking, he established various companies in Bangladesh and he is the chairman of Samrat Group of Companies.
He is also recognised for his benevolent contribution to the society through different social welfare activities in education, health & social development movements, according to the press release.
He is the executive member of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Dhaka and former vice president of Noakhali Zilla Samiti.
Mr Belal is founder of several schools, madrasas, mosques etc in Begumganj.
