Major sectors witness big hit on selling spree

The major sectors witnessed heavy sale pressure last week that ended Thursday. 10 sectors faced more than 3.0 per cent correction amid mounting selling pressure. Of the 19 sectors listed with the prime bourse, except corporate bonds, debenture and treasury bonds, the market cap of 18 sectors faced correction while only food & allied managed to close green, according to weekly analysis of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and LankaBangla Securities. Market operators said the investors went on heavy sale-off across the board depressed largely by attempt to safe guard their holding and minimize their losses. Among the major sectors, non-bank financial institutions, engineering, banking, fuel & power, cement and telecommunication sectors sustained a big hit.
