Maria Howlader FCA has been elected as the president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and Md Johirul Islam FCA as its vice president, says a statement.
They will assume charge of respective offices today (Wednesday). Outgoing ICAB President Mohammed Forkan Uddin FCA has successfully completed his tenure of 2024. Maria Howlader FCA, the new president, is the Managing Partner and Founder of Howlader Maria & Co., (HmAC) Chartered Accountants.
She is also serving as the Secretary General of Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI).
Ms. Howlader was the Vice President (Operations & Members' Services)-ICAB in 2021 & 2024.
She was also the chairperson of SAFA Women Leadership Committee for the tenure of 2021-22.
Md Johirul Islam FCA, the new vice president, is the Partner of A. Qasem & Co. Chartered Accountants. He was a vice president of ICAB in 2024.
Mr. Johir completed his LLB from Chittagong Law College under The University of Chittagong and has been practising Tax and Corporate Law for more than 30 years.
He is a member of Rotary International and was a president of Rotary Club of Chittagong Port City.
