Melita Mehjabeen joins BAT Bangladesh as independent director

Professor Dr. Melita Mehjabeen, a tenured faculty member of IBA, Dhaka University, has been appointed as independent director to British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh, according to a press release.
She has about 20 years of proven track record in academia, research, financial services, and consulting.
Professor Mehjabeen is recognised for her unwavering commitment to education and professional development and creating dynamic and engaging learning environment for her students.
Her passion for corporate governance and sustainability has not only guided her teaching but also shaped her professional career.


Professor Mehjabeen earned her PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, focusing on corporate social responsibility reporting practices in Bangladesh.
In addition to her academic pursuits, her roles as an independent director and chair of audit in renowned companies have enriched her expertise in governance and stakeholder management.
"I am always driven by a passion for continuous learning," Professor Mehjabeen said adding that she will try her best to make a positive impact and bring about meaningful changes in corporate practices.
