Mohammad Abu Jafar appointed MD & CEO of Premier Bank

Mohammad Abu Jafar has taken up the role of managing director and CEO of Premier Bank with effect from 24 April 2024.

Mr Abu Jafar is a seasoned banker with 34 years of experience in the industry. He brings a wealth of knowledge in business development, particularly in areas like RMG financing, offshore banking, corporate banking, treasury, credit management, trade finance and branch banking, according to a statement.

Prior to joining Premier Bank, he held the position of additional managing director and chief business officer (CBO) at Dhaka Bank. He also served as managing director of Dhaka Bank Investment Limited since 2021.

His banking career began in 1990 as a probationary officer at Uttara Bank. He subsequently worked at National Bank and Dhaka Bank, where he spent over 15 years managing AD branches.

Mr Jafar obtained his graduation and post-graduation in economics from the University of Chittagong. He also has a diploma from the Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (DAIBB). Throughout his career, he participated in various banking programmes, training sessions, seminars and symposiums, both at home and abroad.
