Positive outlook of the company attracts investors

Monno Ceramic leads turnover chart


Ten top-traded companies accounted for nearly 21 per cent of transactions on the country's major bourse on Tuesday. Monno Ceramic Industries dominated the list.
Brokers said the investors were active in buying Monno Ceramic shares throughout the trading session amid positive expectations.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 763,907 shares of Monno Ceramic were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 115 million, which was 2.69 per cent of the Dhaka bourse's total transactions.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.26 billion, which was 9.52 per cent higher than the previous day's turnover of Tk 3.89 billion.
The company's share price traded between Tk 148.10 and Tk 153.60, before closing at Tk 149.10, losing 0.80 per cent from that of the previous session.
In the last one year, the company's share price hovered between Tk 36 and 154.10.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) in the October-December quarter (Q2) 2017 stood at Tk 1.50 as against Tk 0.05 for the same period a year ago.
In six months for July-December, 2017, the company's EPS was Tk 1.69 which was Tk 0.10 for the July-December period of 2016.
Monno Ceramic, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1983, disbursed 5.0 per cent cash and 5.0 per cent stock dividend for shareholders for the year ended on June 30, 2017.
Apart from Monno Ceramic, the most other active shares in terms of value included CVO Petrochemicals Refinery, The IBN Sina, National Tubes, BBS Cables, Nahee Aluminum Composite Panel, Grameenphone, Apex Foods, Square Pharmaceuticals and Alif Industries.
CVO Petrochemicals followed next with shares worth more than Tk 99 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 232, advancing 1.75 per cent over the previous session.
The IBN Sina was the third with shares worth Tk 94 million changing hands. The pharmaceuticals company's share price edged up by 0.27 per cent to close at Tk 260.90.
National Tubes clinched the fourth spot, with shares worth Tk 89 million changing hands. The state-run company's share price fell 1.87 per cent to close at Tk 136.40.
BBS Cables emerged fifth with shares worth Tk 87 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 94.60, rising 3.95 per cent over the previous day.
Nahee Aluminum saw its shares worth Tk 86 million change hands. The composite panel producer's share price jumped 6.31 per cent to close at Tk 55.60.
The turnover of Grameenphone was Tk 86 million. Each share of the largest market cap listed company closed at Tk 487.40, advancing 1.18 per cent over the previous day.
Apex Foods featured a turnover of Tk 77 million. The company's share price rose 1.02 per cent to close at Tk 217.10.
The turnover of Square Pharmaceuticals was Tk 75 million. The second largest market cap company's share price gained 0.35 per cent to close at Tk 317.30.
Alif Industries also found its way to the top ten turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 73 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 1.57 per cent to close at 103.30.
