More govt cos, MNCs should float shares in capital mkt

CHITTAGONG, Feb 2: Managing director of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Shaifur Rahman Majumdar today said more government and multinational companies should be enlisted with the capital market to raise the depth of the market.
He urged the capital market regulatory authority to take effective steps in this regard apart from bringing new products.
The CSE MD said this in a keynote paper he presented at a seminar on Prospects and Challenges in Financing through Capital Market in the second day of the three-day CSE Capital Market and Investment Fair in the port city.
The seminar was addressed by Commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Swapan Kumar Bala as chief guest.
Chairman of the PHP Family Alhaj Sufi Mizanur Rahman was the panel discussant at the seminar while former president of the CSE Nasir Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, among others, addressed the seminar.
Earlier, the second day of the CSE Capital Market and Investment Fair started with a training session on the Internet Trading Service (ITS).
The training was conducted by Hasnain Bari, head of the ITS section of the Chittagong Stock Exchange.
CEO of the LankaBangla Securities Khandakar Shaffat Reza, its CTO and director Moinul Islam, executive directors of BSEC Saifur Rahman and
ATM Tariquzzaman addressed the trainees and inauguration of the Stock Library of the CSE website.
