Most listed MNCs see moderate growth in EPS

Most of the listed multinational companies (MNCs) have registered moderate growth in EPS (earnings per share) for July-September (Q3), 2021 compared to same period of previous year riding on increased turnover.

Some of those companies said management skill and reduction in costs have also facilitated the growth of their EPS.

Of the MNCs, the EPS of Marico Bangladesh increased 13.66 per cent to close at Tk 28.45 for July-September, 2021 from same period of the previous year.

The company's EPS also rose to Tk 62.73 for April-September, 2021 from Tk 56.67 reported for the same period of the previous year.

The EPS of Reckitt Benckiser rose 27.23 per cent to Tk 43.17 for July-September, 2021 from Tk 33.93 reported for the same period of the previous year.

For July-September, 2021 Unilever Consumer reported its EPS of Tk 13.52 which was 18.93 per cent higher than that of the same quarter of previous year.

The company's EPS, however, declined to Tk 32.10 for January-September, 2021 from Tk 38.05 reported for same period of previous year.

British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) has reported its EPS of Tk 5.45. During the period, the company's EPS rose 8.34 per cent compared to the same period of 2020.

In a disclosure, the company said its EPS increased for higher profit after tax compared to previous year driven by growth in volume.

It also said its net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) decreased due to higher corporate tax payments, leaf purchase and higher finished goods inventory compared to September 30, 2020.

RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) registered 58.62 per cent growth in EPS for July-September, 2021 compared to same period of previous year.

The company has reported its consolidated EPS of Tk 0.46 for July-September, 2021 against Tk 0.29 for the same period of previous year.

In a disclosure, the company has informed that it registered improvement of cost of sales due to enhanced control on cost compared to previous period.

The company also informed that due to the revised and responsive business strategy taken by the management, sales are increased by 41.93 per cent from Tk 3.41 billion to Tk 4.84 billion.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh registered 44.64 per cent growth in EPS for July-September, 2021 from same period of previous year.

It has reported its consolidated EPS of Tk 0.81 for July-September, 2021 against Tk 0.56 for same period of previous year.

The company has informed that EPS increased compared to the previous period, mainly due to increased cement sales and new aggregate business.

The EPS of Robi rose to Tk 0.17 for July-September, 2021 against Tk 0.08 reported for same period of the previous year.

Of other MNCs, the EPS of Singer Bangladesh declined significantly for July-September, 2021 from the same quarter of the previous year.

For July-September, 2021 the company's EPS dropped 70 per cent to close at Tk 1.28 from Tk 4.28 reported for the same period of previous year.

The company's EPS declined to Tk 5.97 for July-September, 2021 from Tk 6.29 reported for same period of the previous year.

The company has informed that the COVID-19 pandemic circumstances left negative impact on its operations and financial position.

Of other MNCs whose profits declined, the EPS of Linde Bangladesh went down by 20.64 per cent and Grameenphone 3.79 per cent for July-September, 2021from the same quarter of previous year.
