Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) recently organised a daylong workshop on Money Laundering Prevention (MLP) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) at MTB Training Institute, MTB Square, Tejgaon in the city. MTB Additional Managing Director, Md. Hashem Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
Swapan Kumar Biswas, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (CAMLCO), Md. Baker Hossain, Senior Assistant Vice President & AMLCO and Syed Towhid Hossain, Assistant Vice President, Banking Operations department, conducted the sessions as the resource persons. A total of 65 participants from Dhaka city and adjacent area branches of MTB and officials from MTB head office attended the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to refresh the knowledge of the participants, make them aware of new guidelines, circulars of BFIU and MTB's strategy to face the challenges ahead in terms of AML & CFT.
MTB AMD Md. Hashem Chowdhury, in his speech, emphasized that every financial institution & its money laundering reporting officials should frequently & closely monitor the customers for proper identification of the sources of funds and unusual transactions to prevent money laundering and ensure combating the financing of terrorism.
