The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuesday announced that all online value-added tax (VAT)-related activities will now be conducted through the eVAT System following the rebranding of the existing iVAS platform, reports UNB.
In a press release, the NBR said the decision was taken to eliminate confusion caused by the similar pronunciation of iVAS (VAT automation system) and iBAS++, the government's integrated budgeting and accounting system.
To ensure greater clarity for taxpayers, businesses and other stakeholders, the iVAS System has been formally renamed as the eVAT System, while all functions, services and operational processes will remain unchanged.
The NBR said the eVAT System will serve as the single digital platform for a wide range of VAT-related services, including online VAT registration, electronic submission of VAT returns, and all A-Challan and e-payment-based transactions.
The system also allows manufacturers to submit input-output coefficients for VAT revenue assessment through Mushak 4.3, a key compliance requirement.
