New COO of ICAB

Mahbub Ahmed Siddique FCA has been designated as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). His new role has been effective from December 01, 2020. Prior to his new role, Mr. Siddique worked as Secretary & CEO (In Charge) of ICAB since September 27, 2020, in addition to his role as Director Technical, till 30 November 2020, said a statement.

He joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in 2008. As Director Technical, he led the area of quality assurance, technical standards, professional conduct, trainings and research, international affairs and collaboration, and other technical matters of the Institute.

Mr. Siddique also played the role of Executive Secretary of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2017. He was nominated as Assistant Executive Secrecy of SAFA in 2016. He is also ICAB nominated director at SAFA Foundation and Marketing Director at Chartered Accountants Worldwide.

Before joining ICAB, he was employed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) as a consultant of the World Bank Funded ICAB-ICAEW Twining Project. He has also working experience in finance division of Robi, one of the largest telecommunication company in Bangladesh.

Before that Mr. Siddique completed chartered accountancy course from HodaVasi Chowdhury & Co., Chartered Accountants. Mr. Siddique completed his masters in accounting in 2002. He was qualified as Chartered Accountant in 2007 and became an associate member of ICAB on the same year, and fellow member in 2012.

He also has working experience as member secretary of different standing and non-standing committees of the Council-ICAB for many years including Quality Assurance Board, Technical and Research Committee, International Affairs and Collaboration etc.

He participated in different trainings, workshops and conferences at home and abroad and also conducted a number of professional development programmes as a resource person specially in the area of quality assurance and professional standards. Mr. Siddique has travelled many countries on various official assignments.
