CSE gets new acting chair
Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, newly appointed foreign minister, has resigned from the board of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). Along with accepting his resignation, the port city bourse also elected Maj Gen Mohammad Shamim Chowdhury (Retd.), an independent director, as acting chairman. The board of the demutualised port city bourse is comprised of 13 members. Of 13 directors, eight are independent, four are shareholders and another one is strategic partner. After the resignation of CSE chairman, the post of one independent director has become vacant.

Mercantile Bank condoles expiry of Begum Rawnak
Begum Rawnak Afza, mother of Mercantile Bank Limited's Chairman A.K.M. Shaheed Reza passed away in Dhaka on Tuesday (Inna Lillahi…Rajiun). She was 75. She left two sons, one daughter, grand children and many relatives and well-wishers. First namaje janaja of Rawnak Afja took place in capital's Uttara and then her body will be taken away in her village at Rajnagar, Feni. After performing second namaje janaja she will be buried in family graveyard today (Wednesday). The Board of Directors, all executives, officers & employees of MBL expressed deep shock. — Statement
