Confidence Cement holds general meeting
CHITTAGONG, Jan 24: The fourth special general meeting of the listed company Confidence Cement Ltd was held at the company's factory premises at Madam Bibirhat at Sitakunda in Chittagong on Wednesday. Presided over by its chairman Engineer Rezaul Karim, the meeting dropped some sections of the existing Articles of Association, included new ones and replaced and partially replaced others. The decisions were unanimously approved by the shareholders present in the meeting. The special general meeting was attended by managing director Rupam Kishore Barua, Shah Md Hasan (director), Shamsul Alam Bir Uttam (director), Runu Anwar (director), Imran Karim (director), Salman Karim (director), Engineer AZM Sazzadur Rahman (independent director), Engineer AKM Rashiduddin Ahmed (independent director), deputy managing director Zahir Uddin Ahmed and executive director and company secretary Newaz Md Iqbal Yusuf.

HK market rebounds
HONG KONG, Jan 24: Hong Kong stocks recovered from morning losses to end with more gains on Wednesday, marking another record high with investors optimistic about the corporate earnings season. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.08 per cent, or 27.99 points, to finish at 32,958.69. — AFP
