Nordic green growth team meets several BD cos

The Embassies of Denmark and Sweden hosted a Nordic trade delegation on green growth recently.
A total of 22 Nordic companies participated in the delegation making it the biggest ever Nordic trade delegation to Dhaka.
The delegation kicked off its activities in Dhaka with an inaugural ceremony at the Ballroom of Westin Hotel on 20th May,2014 Dhaka.
Both the Ministers welcomed the trade delegation and mentioned the government's liberal policy in attracting foreign investment. The Ambassadors during their speeches sighted Nordic countries' efforts in promoting Bangladesh in Europe. They also expressed their willingness to bring more such delegations in the future as well.
The delegation is scheduled to meet approximately 100 local companies in 2 days. The embassies organized 250 pre-scheduled meeting between the local and Nordic companies. The companies discussed the potential for forming mutually beneficial partnerships, according to a press release.
The Nordic companies at the matchmaking session have expertise in the fields of sustainability, energy efficiency, handling and treatment of waste water, agriculture and biogas, and maritime equipment. Furthermore, a number of companies are experts in other areas such as electricity, printing on textile, pipe and sewage systems, and within the steel industry.
Amir Hossain Amu, MP- Minister for Industries and Nasrul Hamid, MP- State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources inaugurated the matchmaking ceremony as the Chief Guest and Special Guest. Representatives from civil society, several local companies, bilateral trade bodies and embassies were present at the session.
