Orion Pharma dominated the Dhaka Stock Exchange's turnover chart on Sunday after a long time while ten most-traded stocks accounted for 31 per cent transactions.
Market analysts said investors were showing buying interest on large-cap stocks like Orion Pharma, Beximco, LafargeHolcim, Shahjibazar Power and Delta Life Insurance.
According to the DSE data, some 17.72 million shares of Orion Pharma were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 1.42 billion, which was 6.29 per cent of the day's total turnover.
The drug maker's share price closed at Tk 84.40 on Sunday, after hitting more than two-year highest price of Tk 85.30. Its share surged 8.76 per cent on Sunday.
Within five trading days, the company's share price jumped around 24 per cent or Tk 16.20 each despite no price sensitive information.
The company disbursed a 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2020. In 2019, the company provided a 15 per cent cash dividend.
The company's nine months consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 2.98 for July 2020-March 2021 as against Tk 2.75 for July 2019-March 2020.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 2.34 billion and authorised capital is Tk 5.0 billion while total number of securities is 234 million.
Beximco came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 991 million changing hands. The company's share rose 2.30 per cent to close at Tk 137.50 each.
LafargeHolcim clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 912 million changing hands. The multinational cement maker's share closed at Tk 80.10 each, rising 2.04 per cent.
Shahjibazar Power emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 815 million changing hands. The power generation company's share rose 9.19 per cent to close at Tk 124.70 each.
Delta Life Insurance notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 598 million changing hands. The life insurer's share closed at Tk 181.80, gaining 0.16 per cent.
The turnover of Beximco Pharma was Tk 594 million. The drug maker's share price dropped 3.13 per cent to close at Tk 237.90 each.
Genex Infosys featured a turnover of Tk 463 million. The IT Company's share closed at Tk 120.80 each, rising 3.86 per cent.
The turnover of Makson Spinning Mills was Tk 422 million. The company's share advanced 3.06 per cent to close at Tk 33.60 each.
Active Fine Chemicals featured a turnover of Tk 383 million. The company's share closed at Tk 28.10, losing 0.70 per cent.
SS Steel also made its way to the day's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 369 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 2.72 per cent to close at Tk 26.40 each.
