PRAN Dairy Limited and US-based international organisation ACDI/VOCA have signed an agreement to further strengthen dairy development in southern Bangladesh.
The collaboration aims to support the dairy sector in the southern districts under the USAID-funded 'Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition programme' run by ACDI/VOCA, says a statement.
Eleash Mridha, Managing Director at PRAN Group, and Muhammad Nurul Amin Siddiquee, Chief of Party of the project, signed the agreement at the head office of PRAN Dairy in Dhaka recently.
Under the agreement, PRAN Dairy will focus on a variety of initiative, including assisting farmers to increase milk production and procurement, providing dairy producers with farm management training, supplying milk in formal market, and promoting safe milk production and consumption in southern Bangladesh.
The project will also involve awareness campaign, the supply of drought tolerant grass seeds, loan assistance for cattle rearing, and vaccination programme. ACDI/VOCA will help PRAN Dairy through financing and guidelines.
This agreement marks the second partnership between the two parties. The first phase, which ended successfully in 2023, saw PRAN Dairy's milk collection in the project area increase by 200 per cent.
