Prime Bank published books on consumer & SME banking in Braille for visually impaired people, according to a statement.
The bank's Chief Executive Officer Hassan O. Rashid handed over the books to Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, deputy governor of the Bangladesh Bank (BB), at a ceremony at the BB recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rashid said, "We firmly believe that financial services should be accessible to everyone. Through this initiative, we aim to empower the specially-able community by providing them with necessary tools to navigate the banking system easily."
The Braille books will be available free of cost at all public libraries and specialised schools across the country. The bank will deliver those in phases.
The books will also be available in audio format with sign language interpreter through Prime Bank youtube channel @primebankofficial.
Rup Ratan Pine, executive director; Abeda Rahim, additional director; Golam Sarowar, joint director; Md. Shamim Al Mamun, deputy director; Mohammad Yousuf Ali, assistant director of the BB; and M. Nazeem A. Choudhury, deputy managing director & Shaila Abedin, head of liabilities of Prime Bank; were present at the event.
