Professor Abu Ahmed has joined as Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh on Sunday, says a press release.
He is a leading economist of the country and a capital market expert. He is the person who singly contributed significantly to the development of the capital market in Bangladesh.
Educated at Dhaka, Islamabad and York universities. Professor Ahmed joined the economics Department of the University of Dhaka as a lecturer in 1976 and taught extensively on various issues. He held many important positions including that of Chairman, Economics Department, University of Dhaka; and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka.
He also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the state-owned Bangladesh Shilpa Bank.
At present, he holds positions as Director, Chittagong Stock Exchange (nominated); Director, Bakhrabad Gas Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Petrobangla; Member, the Syndicate of the Jagannath University; and Member, Advisory Committee of the BSEC.
Professor Ahmed writes extensively on economic and capital market issues.
