Prof Swapan Kumar Bala expires



Former Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Prof Swapan Kumar Bala died Wednesday.
Prof. Bala felt sick in Wednesday's morning and he was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Dhaka. Later, the hospital doctors declared him dead.


Bala was a professor at the accounting and information systems department of Dhaka University.
He joined Dhaka Stock Exchange as its managing director in 2013 and served the exchange till 2016.
On completion of his tenure in the premier bourse DSE, Prof. Bala joined the BSEC as a commissioner for four years.
He was also the treasurer of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
The securities regulator has expressed its deep condolence over the death of its former commissioner Prof. Bala.
In a condolence letter, the BSEC said it will remember Prof. Bala's role played for the country's stock market.
The DSE has also expressed its deep condolence over the death of its former managing director.
