The securities regulator has formed a three-member body to amend the Securities and Exchange Commission (Market Maker) Rules, 2000 for ensuring the market's supportive role, officials said.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) formed the body on Tuesday at a meeting held at BSEC office.
The three-member body headed by BSEC executive director Mahbubul Alam will submit its report within next 30 working days.
The other members of the body are BSEC director Md. Abul Kalam and BSEC director Md. Mansur Rahman.
A market maker is a bank or a brokerage firm that always stands ready to provide necessary support to the market.
The BSEC officials said securities regulator would seek public opinion before it approves the amendment to Securities and Exchange Commission (Market Maker) Rules, 2000.
